the title of a tango by Benjamin Tagle Lara with lyrics by Carlos V.G.
Flores (which has been recorded by Ignacio Corsini). However, the one
mentioned here, is better known as "Pa'mi es igual (Siempre amigos)".
Although I have never seen the original disco all sources seem to
mention "Siempre amigos", in fact the subtitle. |

There exists an anecdote about the misterious
co-author Sos Taita, and although I have it second-hand it is too
beautiful not to be mentioned here. It seems to have been told by
Armando Laborde in an interview with Néstor Pinsón. Benjamin García (who is mentioned as the componist, along with the text writer Sos Taita) was a bandoneonist and good friend to Héctor Varela, at that time first bandoneonist in the D'Arienzo orchestra. Benjamin García had financial problems and Varela told him : "We'll make you a tango and if D'Arienzo puts it to record you will get some good money from it". So, Héctor Varela composed the music and Carlos Wais wrote the lyrics. Carlos Waiss was part of the author team D'Arienzo-Varela-Waiss that had already written many themes for the D'Arienzo orchestra. For this one, Yuyo Brujo, he preferred to use a pseudonym. So in this "friends story", one more friend had to show up : boxing champion Oscar Sostaita , great admirer of the D'Arienzo orchestra, who inspired Carlos Waiss to choose the pseudonym Sos Taita. What was really a Varela-Waiss theme was published as by Benjamin García-Sos Taita. And D'Arienzo recorded it... Carlos Waiss reused this pseudonym at least twice - Y Bésame Otra Vez (Angel Condercuri & Sos Taita), recorded by Héctor Varela with Rodolfo Lesica (1956) - El Tiempo Sera Testigo (R. Gimenez & Sos Taita), recorded by Héctor Varela with Armando Laborde (1962) The name Sos Taita is only used on the record labels. At SADAIC the compositions are registered in his own name. |
